Established
in 1992, City Telecom (H.K.) Limited (ˇ§CTIˇ¨) is an integrated telecommunications
group principally engaged in the provision of international telecommunications
and fixed network services. CTI was listed on the Hong Kong Stock
Exchange (Stock Code: 1137) in August 1997 and dual listed on the
Nasdaq National Market (Ticker Symbol: CTEL) in the USA in November
1999.
CTI successfully liberalized
the monopolized telecommunications market in Hong Kong and launched
its international telecommunications service in 1992. With aggressive
marketing strategies and competitively-priced quality service, CTI
established a large customer base for IDD1666 service, thus enabling
CTI sustains to be one of the market leaders. In addition, CTI participated
in the investment for construction of submarine cables, including
Japan-US Cable to connect the US and Japan across the Pacific Ocean,
as well as Asia Pacific Cable Network 2, connecting us to eight
districts in Asia and allows direct connection with the major fixed
network operators in China. These linkages demonstrate a true testimonial
of our good voice quality.
Hong Kong Broadband Network
Limited (ˇ§HKBNˇ¨), the wholly-owned subsidiary of CTI, has been aggressive
in developing network infrastructure since the granting of Fixed
Telecommunications Network Services license in 2000. In June 2002,
HKBN successfully established the largest Metro Ethernet IP network
in the world, and extended its network coverage to 1.2m homepass,
representing 60% of the total number of households all over Hong
Kong by the end of 2002. With the support of an advanced network
platform, HKBN realized its target for ˇ§triple-playˇ¨ strategy :
delivering broadband Internet access, local telephony and pay-TV
services, devoting to further develop the fixed telecom network
business.
Riding on self-owned
infrastructure and advanced technology, the Group targets to provide
diversified telecommunications services to the public, and move
towards the leadership position in the industry.
